On Saturday, April 7, 10:30 a.m., the Delaware Public Archives will present a program titled “The Life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.” in remembrance of the 50th anniversary of his assassination in 1968. Presented by Rev. Dr. John Moore, Sr. this program will focus on Dr. King’s life from his youth in Georgia, his years as the leader of the civil rights movement, and his tragic assassination in Memphis, Tennessee. Dr. Moore will also re-enact three of Dr. King’s most famous speeches: “We Shall Overcome,” “I Have a Dream,” and his final address, “The Mountain Top,” presented the night before his assassination.

A native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Moore retired from the United States Air Force in 2005 after 20 years of honorable service to his nation. He currently serves as the Vice President, Resource Development and Strategic Partnerships for the United Way of Delaware. He is also the Executive Director for the Delaware Youth Leadership Academy. From January 2000 to December 2017 Moore served as the Youth Pastor for Calvary Baptist Church in Dover, Delaware. Dr. Moore is President and CEO of Total Increase Ministries.
