Recently, the Archives was contacted by a gentleman in Pennsylvania who had a lantern slide collection of Jackson & Sharp Company railroad car photographs.  Purchased at a railroad memorabilia auction, the collection was probably used by a Jackson & Sharp traveling salesman who used the slides to promote his company’s rail cars to perspective buyers.

The Archives bought the entire group of 66 slides from the Pennsylvania railroad enthusiast.  They will be added to the Jackson & Sharp collection of photographs and drawings.  Most of the slides date from the late 19th century.

For more information regarding our Jackson and Sharp collection, view our Jackson and Sharp guide on our website.
