A researcher was looking at the ABC News internet site the other day and came across this video of the construction of a new Boeing 737.  It was built for Southwest Airlines to advertise their flights to Florida.  He remembered as a child seeing advertisements on trains. He wondered if we had any photographs of trains that were used to advertise things. We sure do! We have several in the Archives’ Jackson and Sharp Photograph Collection

Back in the days when railroads were the main method of long-distance travel, the State of Florida bought some railroad cars from the Jackson and Sharp Company to advertise the advantages of living in their state.  These colorful cars certainly would have drawn the attention of any onlookers.
