Monday we take some time to honor the Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. and his accomplishments for civil rights.  We had a college professor, who is new to Delaware, stop in to see if we had anything on civil rights in Delaware. He was floored when he saw all we had.

We have audio recordings of NAACP rallies and of NAAWP rallies.  We have photographs and our Department of Public Instruction collection has a wealth of information regarding the desegregation of schools.  The Governor’s papers are full of correspondence and letters. We have newspapers from the time period, as well as the official legislation for the many laws passed.

The professor was so impressed he is considering having his students spend the semester here instead of the classroom.
